Last updated: September 15, 2026

This site belongs to me, Carlos Murguía. This page explains what I collect when you visit, write to me or download my book, why I collect it, and how you can ask me to see it or delete it.

The short version

  • I only collect what you type into a form, plus analytics about how the site is used.

  • I use your messages to reply to you and your email to know who’s downloading the book.

  • I don’t sell your information or share it with anyone for their own use.

  • You can ask me to show you or delete what I have. Send me a note.

Who is responsible for your information

I am. Carlos Murguía runs carlosmurguia.com and decides what happens to the information collected here. To reach me about anything on this page, use the contact form and choose “Other”. I don’t list a public email address.

What I collect and why

When you use the contact form

The form asks for your name, your email, your message and what it’s about (Collaboration, Interviews & talks, or Other). You can also add details: your organization, the outlet, event or show, your timing, a date and a link. I use all of it for one thing: to read your message and reply to you. I don’t add anyone who writes to me to a mailing list.

When you download the book

The form asks for your email and has an optional box for updates. When you submit it, I keep your email, whether you checked the box, the date, and two technical labels that say the request came from the book page and which version of the form text you saw. I use this to know who’s reading The Scrolling Economy. I only send updates to people who checked the box, and every update will include a way to stop them. Right now I don’t send any.

When you browse the site

I use Google Analytics to see how the site is used: which pages people visit, how they got here, roughly where they are, what device and browser they use, and when someone clicks a button, submits a form or downloads the book. These reports describe visits, not people I can name. What you type into a form never goes to Google Analytics, and the analytics is set to strip out email addresses if one ever slips into a page address.

The site is also hosted on Framer, which counts visits without cookies.

Where your information is stored

Form submissions are stored in Framer, the platform that hosts this site. Each one also arrives in my email inbox as a notification. Analytics data is stored by Google. These companies may store data in the United States or in other countries. They handle it on my behalf to run the site, under their own privacy policies: Framer and Google.

What I don’t do

I don’t sell your information. I don’t share it with anyone for their own marketing or any other use of theirs. The only companies that touch it are the services that run this site, listed above. I’d only hand information over if the law required it.

How long I keep it

  • Contact messages: up to two years after our last exchange, so I have the context if you write again. Then I delete them.

  • Book download records: for as long as the book is offered here, or until you ask me to delete yours.

  • Analytics: Google Analytics keeps detailed data for 14 months, then deletes it. Summary reports with no individual detail can stay longer.

How to see or delete your information

Send me a note through the contact form and choose “Other”. Tell me what you’d like: a copy of what I have, a correction, or deletion. Use the same email address you used before, so I can find your records. I’ll reply within 2 business days and finish the request within 30 days.

If you checked the updates box and change your mind, send me a note the same way and I’ll remove you from the list.

Cookies and analytics

Google Analytics uses cookies, small files stored in your browser, to tell one visit from the next. They’re named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID.

The site also keeps a short-lived note in your browser tab so a form submission or a book download is only counted once. It’s cleared when you close the tab and never includes what you typed.

How to opt out

  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking cookies for carlosmurguia.com stops Google Analytics from telling your visits apart.

  • Opt out of Google Analytics on every site with Google’s browser add-on.

Opting out doesn’t change anything else on the site. The forms and the book download work the same way.

Changes to this page

If what I collect or how I use it changes, I’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects the book updates list, I’ll ask people on it before it applies to them.
